Apple’s iPhone 12 event rumoured to reveal new iPad, Apple Watches and HomePod
Apple doesn’t appear to be letting the coronavirus put a damper on its product plans for autumn if rumours are to be believed. Along with four new models of iPhone 12, the tech giant is also believed to be lining up a new iPad Air model, two new Apple Watch models as well as a smaller HomePod and new over-ear headphones. Phew. These whisperings all come from the folks over at Bloomberg who have apparently been watching Apple like hawks.
They say the company will unleash four iPhone 12 models consisting of two basic and two high-end models. These will include 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch regular iPhone 12s and 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch ‘Pro’ versions. Crucially, all of them will be 5G-enabled and therefore ready for the next wave of mobile connectivity. Shifting over to the Apple Watch, and the suggestion is the company will unveil two models as successors to the Apple Watch Series 5 and Apple Watch Series 3. One of which is clearly the new flagship, while the other will be priced much lower to compete with the likes of Fitbit.
Meanwhile, we could also see a new iPad Air that will feature slimmed down bezels and a design more in keeping with the current iPad Pros. Speculation is also rife that Apple will finally unveil its own over-ear headphones and also a cheaper, smaller version of the company’s HomePod smart speaker. Oh, and there will probably be a new version of the Apple TV as well. Lastly, there’s some gossip that Apple’s rumoured AirTags may finally make an appearance. These are believed to be Bluetooth-powered tracking tags similar to Tile’s trackers that can be slipped inside bags and wallets and suchlike. When Apple chooses to reveal this glut of new products remains to be seen. The company usually opts for September but given the worldwide effect of the coronavirus, many believe it’ll be pushed back to October.
